Who receives Energy Savings Kits?
These kits are available to renters, New Brunswickers who need extra support, nonprofit organizations supporting their clients, and participants in many SaveEnergyNB efficiency programs.
Who pays for these kits?
SaveEnergyNB programs are delivered to all New Brunswickers by NB Power with funding support from the Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick. Thanks to this support, this kit is provided to you free of charge.
Why is NB Power giving away Energy Savings Kits?
NB Power is providing free Energy Savings Kits to support New Brunswickers in making their homes more energy efficient. These easy-to-install products can help lower electricity use, reduce monthly bills, and make living spaces more comfortable—without requiring major upgrades or renovations.
Is the Energy Savings Kit free?
Yes, the Energy Savings Kit is free, including shipping.
How long will these kits be provided?
Kits are available while supplies last.
Don’t need everything in your kit?
If there’s something you won’t use, why not pass it along to a friend or family member so they can save energy too?
How much will these products save me on my energy bill?
If all products are installed, you can expect to save over $60 per year on your energy bill.
What is the value of these kits?
Each kit is approximately $100 in value.
When can I expect to receive my kit?
After completing your registration form, kits for renters normally take 4-6 weeks to reach your home. When the kit is shipped, you will receive an email confirmation including a tracking number.
Can roommates order their own kits for the same apartment?
No, we will only be providing one kit per mailing address to ensure we can help as many New Brunswickers as possible.
Why are these only available to renters?
Homeowners have the option to participate in other SaveEnergyNB programs such as the Total Home Energy Savings Program or the Enhanced Energy Savings Program, but renters aren’t eligible as they do not own their home. Energy Savings Kits help renters manage their energy use.
Why should I install these products?
Small changes can make a big difference! Each of the products that are included in your kit use significantly less energy than traditional, inefficient products. This means you'll be managing your energy use and helping the environment.
What organizations can participate in the Energy Savings Kit program?
Any non-profit or community organization in New Brunswick that works with disadvantaged populations can apply (e.g. people with lower incomes, seniors, single parent families, new immigrant families).
Will NB Power distribute the kits for our nonprofit?
After your application has been approved, your quantity of kits will be sent (free of charge) to one location of your choosing. Your organization will then be responsible for the distribution of the kits to your community members.
What should I plug into power bars?
Please follow the safe use guidelines included it the kit booklet. Power bars are recommended for DVRs/routers, cable boxes/modems, TVs/PCs, gaming consoles (without a hard disk drive), AV receivers and TV/PC accessories are items that can be safely plugged into a power bar.
What shouldn’t I plug into power bars?
Please follow the safe use guidelines included it the kit booklet. Large appliances or furniture should never be plugged in to a power bar.
What is the benefit to using a power bar?
Power bars help save energy by reducing the amount of standby power electronics continue to use after turning them on.
